Summary: Fabricates and assembles structural metal products such as framework or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops layout and plans sequence of operations.

Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto workpiece.

Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.

Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.

Preheats workpieces.

Positions, aligns, fits, and welds together parts.

Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.

Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.

Fabricates and assembles sheet metal products.

Sets up and operates machine tools associated with fabricating shops such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with
standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software.
Certificates and Licenses: Certified in flu and core welding or able to pass a certification test.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts;extreme heat (non-weather);risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
