Welder

Title: Welder

Location: Syracuse

Pay Range: $21-26/hr

Summary: Perform a wide range of welding processes involving some minor but very exacting fitting of a number of pre-fabricated parts and materials. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Work from blueprints/sketches and work under direction of classified Fitter-Welders
• Perform welding operations on varying metals/alloys
• Burn/trim excess stock
• Determine proper settings of welding current, voltage and gas mixture 
• Determine need for and make simple fixtures/jigs as appropriate
• Use hand and power tools to cut, drill, punch etc
• Dress weld seams and joints as needed and repair work as needed
• Responsible for maintenance of welding equipment
• Clean and replace liners in welding gun
• Maintaining clean and neat working conditions 

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma (or GED) 
• 1-3 months related experience/training
• Ability to read and comprehend short correspondence/memos 
• Mathematical skills
• Ability to follow oral instruction and follow safer operating procedures

Physical Demands: 

• Frequent standing
• Frequent walking
• Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
• Frequently required to lift 10-25 lbs
