Job Description 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This job role entails setting up and running the flatware blanker, length rolls and coining presses. The operator will need to learn to set up the machine between jobs changing rolls and cutting dies then make adjustments to feeds at the beginning and end of the process.

On the job training will be provided.

Qualified applicants must be able to read, write and follow instructions. Some judgement required to make machine adjustments, understand quality procedures, load and unload work from the machine. Continually checking for material defects in the coiled steel or cut parts while keeping the area orderly and clean.

  • Read work order/routing sheet to determine tooling required, raw material size and quantity
  • Depending upon work order, check rolls for proper life and change when necessary
  • Setup feed into rolls
  • Check thickness of parts against specification for each design
  • Set up the cutting press for proper outline per the work order/routing
  • Set up the packer in cutting press
  • Cut parts to quantity on work order
  • Continually measure grade so that it matches the grade chart in specification book
  • Place all parts in white trays or pin racks depending upon setup

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs., regularly stand during the job, reach with hands, stoop, kneel or crouch.

High School or GED required. Requires 8 weeks of training.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Mechanical Aptitude, ability to use surface grinder to sharpen tools and make minor repairs to machinery.

Ability to run roll machining equipment to rework rolls and check versus tolerance. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to be cross trained; into other duties. Use of micrometers, computers expected.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Necessary to implement all safety equipment as needed on all jobs, including but not limited to: Safety Glasses, Side Shields, Ear plugs, gloves and proper footwear.
