Jobs Summary

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path) is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs, and services for veterans and their families. The Warriors Working Coordinator is responsible for supporting Clear Path’s employment placement activities, including educational benefits to veterans and employers. Client services and program coordination background is essential to carry out the primary functions of this position. Experience with employment-related development or services is preferred.  The main goal of this position is to support the Warriors Working program in ensuring the placement of veterans in appropriate careers and receiving holistic warrior care. This position reports to the Warriors Working Manager and coordinates internally with the Peer Support team.

Primary Functions

Assist in identifying potential Clear Path clients (employers and veterans), focused on successful employment for veterans.

1. For Veterans: 

  1. Determine job readiness, including identifying skills and barriers to employment.
  2. Make referrals to appropriate training programs to close the skills gap.
  3. Prioritize wellness needs to ensure holistic warrior care at all times.
  4. Provide one-on-one career counseling, including employment development plans.
  5. Execute program processes related to each client’s employment needs and align with Clear Path for Veterans’ holistic, coordinated care approach.
  6. Assist with developing resumes, lists of references, interviewing preparation and other skills or components necessary for the job search process.

2. For Employers:

In coordination with the Warriors Working Manager,

  1. present, promote, and market Warriors Working contingency search recruiting services in the 33-county service area.
  2. establish, develop, and maintain relationships with all potential Warriors Working clients.
  3. solidify and optimize all Warriors Working client relationships for the overall benefit of Clear Path.
  4. ensure prospective employers understand the unique opportunity employing veterans brings to an organization through promoting and marketing their value.
  5. make referrals to employers with the best possible clients according to Warriors Working service agreements.

3. Warriors Working Program:

  1. Maintain regular contact with veterans and all employers to ensure successful career placement.
  2. Utilize organizational career matching tools (Smartworks) to identify and execute appropriate veteran career placement.
  3. Maintain accurate data on all client leads, existing accounts and other client-related activities using the CRM platform (Salesforce) and related processes.
  4. Coordinate and support execution of program workshops and training.

4. Outreach Related: 

  1. Maintain regular contact with veterans and all employers to ensure successful career placement.  
  2. Maintain relationships throughout the Clear Path for Veterans service area with all government and community service programs, agencies, and facilities.
  3. Continuously work to develop professional relationships, training opportunities, and job leads with employers for existing and potential clients.
  4. Support the Warriors Working Manager with coordination and actively participate in outside marketing efforts to promote CPV programs and the hiring of veterans by local area employers, including group presentations, job fairs, employer recognition recruitment events, and other activities.
  5. Identify, establish, and maintain contact with the homeless or at-risk veteran population, including incarcerated, female veterans, and their families.

5. Measuring Success:

  1. Administer program surveys as required to measure outcomes and impact.
  2. Assist in preparing and delivering job readiness special workshops, focus groups, and networking sessions to assist veteran job seekers and employers.
  3. Assist in developing successful outreach strategies and attend special events that increase the sustainability of CPV employment program initiatives.
  4. Keeps management informed by accurate activity and data entry into Salesforce.  Monitor activity reports and provides necessary program information to leadership.  
  5. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or another client service-related field. (Joint Service Transcripts accepted) and 1-2 years of relevant work experience or; an associate’s degree in a related field (Joint Service Transcripts accepted) and 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain CPR and AED training/certification. (CPV provides training & certification)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in the Position

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to prospect for new leads to meet or exceed quarterly new Veteran client and employer recruitment goals.
  • Strong Presentation Skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with individuals and organizations.
  • Understanding of the non-profit and human services sector.
  • Understanding of military culture and language.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individual personalities.
  • Writing skills sufficient to develop effective resumes.
  • Highly proficient with MS skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  


Additional Requirements

  • Valid New York State driver’s license and must have use of a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to travel daily as needed.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be comfortable with dogs in the workplace.

Job-Related Physical Abilities are Needed to Perform the Job in a Satisfactory Manner

Must possess speech and hearing sufficient for telephone and in-person communications.  Manual dexterity is enough for regular use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.  Vision enough for frequent use of a computer monitor to write and read documents. This position requires constant physical activity, including reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods and the ability to work extended days, up to 12+ hours occasionally.  Ability to lift to 50 pounds overhead. Ability to work in extreme hot and cold working environments.
