Job Summary 

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path), is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs, and services for veterans and their families. The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administration of organizational policies and procedures for all Clear Path staff. The incumbent of this position will be the primary point of contact for the HR department answering employee questions about PTO and other information outlined within the employee handbook and other organizational compliance documents as needed. The HR Coordinator speaks with employees fostering an “open door” working environment and makes recommendations for new or improving existing employee satisfaction-based programs and events. This role works closely with the HR Manager to ensure electronic and hard copy personnel records are accurately maintained and organized.

Primary Job Functions

 

  1. Serves as the main point of contact for all staff regarding HR-related inquires to be reviewed with the HR Manager for resolution as appropriate.
  2. Works closely with HR Manager and employees to maintain a positive, supportive and productive work environment.
  3. Regularly conducts organizational climate surveys and meets with staff to promote the continuous improvement process.
  4. Serves as the main point of contact for the 401k program coordination between employees and third-party administrators.
  5. Assists in the administration and maintenance of the 401k, medical, dental, and vision plans.
  6. Assists with the preparation and completion of all forms and documents associated with employee complaint and investigation process.
  7. Conducts job candidate interviews with hiring managers as requested.
  8. Onboards all-new CPV employees, including the preparation of all HR-related onboarding materials.
  9. Assists with the preparation and completion of all documents associated with employee personnel action events such as promotion, merit increase, job change, location change, layoffs, etc.
  10. Assists with employee PTO administration.
  11. Assists with hard copy and electronic employee personnel file management and organization.
  12. Data entry of employee information into the HRIS as needed.
  13. Responsible for posting and managing all internal CPV job postings in the TalentNest system.
  14. Assists with keeping current workplace posting requirements OSHA, FLSA, etc.
  15. Assists with processing disability and workers’ compensation claims paperwork.
  16. Provide status reports to HR Manager on projects/job duties completed and in process.
  17. Complete other related duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or other related field required and a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience as an HR professional (ex: HR Assistant; HR Generalist/Specialist; HR Business Partner).

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Needed to Perform Effectively in the Position

 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Non-profit work experience a plus
  • Strong mediation & negotiation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Basic knowledge of standard employee benefits plans (Health, Dental, Life Insurances etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; attention to detail.
  • Writing skills sufficient to draft letters, memos and other professional correspondence.
  • Computer literate with moderate Microsoft Office skills to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Valid New York State driver’s license and must have use of a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to travel to and from CPV main campus in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be comfortable with dogs in the workplace.

 

Job-related Physical Abilities required in order to perform the job in a satisfactory manner

May sit or stand for long periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient for constant use of computer keyboard and other office equipment.  Vision sufficient for frequent use of a computer monitor, developing and reading paperwork. Must be able to lift a maximum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
