Job Title: Inspector I Machining
Reports To: Quality Manager
Dept: Quality


Summary/Objective: Responsible for performing first article inspections, in process quality
checks whether random, 100% or at another prescribed interval by inspecting, testing, and
measuring materials and parts. Conducts both visual and measurement inspections against the
blueprint and specific job traveler requirements.


Job Responsibilities
 Reads and interprets blueprints and specifications including job travelers/job process
sheets.
 Recommends adjustments to the assembly or production process.
 Performs complete quality inspection by measuring dimensions such as length, height
and distance between reference points using precision measuring instruments such as
micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicator, no/go gauges, thread gauges and DCCMM
to ensure the product meets specifications.
 Able to locate reference point(s) on part and measure dimensions such as angle arc, and
radii using a combination of aids such as surface plate parallel bars, angle plates, gauge
blocks, plug pins, V blocks, sine bars, and precision measuring instruments such as but
not limited to a height gauge.
 Performs quality verification on incoming, in-process and out going products.
 Verifies correctness of finish, paint color, anodization, placement of inserts, heli coils,
pins etc.
 Assists and trains machine operators or other quality inspectors on part visual
acceptability and measurement and process procedures as needed.
 Reports quality problems or finding to the Quality (Control) Manager and other
application Manager(s) or Supervisor(s) as necessary and follows up to ensure that the
corrective action has/will take place.
 Maintains records of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other
departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of
parts.
 Accepts or rejects parts whether a finished part or first article inspection.
 Prepares all required paperwork detailing part rejections, amounts, quality issues, and
makes recommendations to achieve good quality parts.
 Identifies and tags parts requiring rework and involved in identifying parts to scrap.
 Provides input to the Material Review Board quality meetings on a regular basis.
 Deburrs parts as needed.
 Verifies counts with traveler and routes as specified.
 Meets quality and quantity standards for the position and proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline
MIS system.
 Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective
equipment and practices good housekeeping.
 Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and
standards of conduct.
 Maintains a positive professional approach with all internal and external contacts.
 Applies classroom and on the job post training information, knowledge, skills, and
abilities consistently in a quality oriented manner (wherein the KSAs are part of the jobs
tasks, duties and other tasks as requested).
 Performs other tasks as directed.

Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications
 H.S. Diploma or equivalent with good math skills
 Ability to interpret blueprints
 Basic math, & Geometry/Trigonometry
 Flexibility based on plant product schedules
 A minimum of 1 year previous experience using a computer and measuring instruments
 Testing on inspection and measurement is a prerequisite for this position.
 CMM operations and programming a plus.

Physical Requirements
 Ability to walk, remain on feet for extended time periods, reach, stoop. Kneel and lift up
to an including 35 pounds as needed. Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral
vision, depth perception and the ability to continually adjust focus.

Pay is DOE

Hours : 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday through Friday
