Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; occasional evenings and weekends

JOB SUMMARY:

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path), is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, offering world class programs and services for veterans and their families.  The Director of National Expansion’s primary function is brand management, advancement (expansion/fund development) strategy. This position is responsible for identifying opportunities relating to organizational advancement, brand management, increasing fund development, national partnerships, public relations, and outreach. The Director of National Expansion serves as a principal promoter and communicator of the CPV mission and vision nationally, to all external entities and is an inspiration to other communities to replicate our model. The Director of National Expansion is responsible for ensuring proper national and regional representation and oversight with respect to Clear Path Expansion Sites, to include, but not limited to CPV New England, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier as well as future Clear Path Expansion Sites that may develop so as to ensure program guidelines are met locally, regionally and nationally. This includes that a world-class brand is maintained, and representation is consistent across all governmental, military, and non-profit entities.

 This position reports to the board of directors.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Adavancement - Expansion & Funding

  1. Identify and evaluate opportunities for advancement and funding that align with the CPV mission and vision.
    1. Effectively communicate, solicit support, lead and execute those opportunities into action. Report as requested.
    2. Develop, maintain and critically evaluate existing relationships and effective strategies so that Clear Path may establish and maintain only those partnerships that advance the CPV mission. Produce and Maintain all required documentation to all CPV partners (g. CPV certificates and accreditation that may be required to secure or maintain certain funding streams from CPV Partners).
    3. Coordinate with the Executive Director of CPV NY to ensure consistency between standards set by CPV-NY and expansion sites.
    4. Schedule training as needed amongst expansion sites officers and staff as necessary.
    5. Enable and support a culture that remains open and positive across all CPV entities.
    6. Promote healthy Veterans as a necessary means to a healthy community.
  2. Build and manage the National Advisory Committee structure to support expansion.
    1. The objective is to raise money and awareness of the CPV model
  3. Build and manage the National Chapter Council of all CPV communities
    1. CPV NE
    2. CPV NY
    3. CPV Southern Tier
    4. CPV Hudson Valley,
    5. et al. as future expansion permits.
  4. May represent Executive Director CPV-NY when, and only as requested by the Executive Director CPV-NY, or as otherwise determined by the CPV Board of Directors.

Strategic Planning

  1. Lead Clear Path’s strategic planning process and updates to include:
    1. A strategic plan for innovative and effective outreach and fund development that aligns with CPV's national strategic goals and objectives.
    2. Create a standard operating procedure to train staff at expansion sites on CPV history, programs, and services.
    3. Identify key outreach contacts and potential funding opportunities for all CPV Expansion Sites; advise Executive Director of CPV NY as to as applicable.
    4. Identify outside, new initiatives and projects that align or affect the CPV mission.
    5. Ensure timely communication with key external contacts and internal leadership; when applicable, coordinate directly with the Executive Director of CPV-NY when needed.
    6. Maintain a list of organizational activities CPV staff hold memberships in or participate with where staff members are representing Clear Path at the national level.
    7. Identify grant opportunities to fund new and existing CPV programs and initiatives.
    8. Continuous relationship building of key State and Federal government contacts.
    9. Ensure strategic objectives are clearly communicated, recorded, monitored, followed up on, and completed.
  2. Create and Oversee Action Plans that:
    1. Develop and expand regional and national opportunities that meet and anticipate the needs of those we serve.
    2. Communicate approved action plans effectively both within the organization and externally.

Military and Community Outreach

  1. Establish consistent communication of our mission, vision, goals, and objectives throughout all CPV entities.
  2. Stay informed of activities that could impact Clear Path’s mission.
  3. As needed, develop and maintain an effective working relationship with active duty reserves and military installations nationwide.
  4. Identify current needs of the Veteran community and anticipate future needs based on continual analysis of information and imperial data found in scholarly studies relevant to Veteran related issues (g. PTSD, Depression, etc.)
  5. Review and analyze all outreach data to identify effective trends and patterns.
  6. Develop, train and support an outreach team comprised of CPV civilian staff and volunteers that promote the notion that healthy Veterans positively impact their civilian communities.

Intellectual Property and Publications

  1. Protect CPV’s intellectual property by ensuring brand protection, prohibiting both trademark dilution and any unauthorized use of CPV’s intellectual property.  
  2. Assist in maintaining and adjusting the program development manuals, circulars, and SOP's.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND MISCELLANEOUS:

  1. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training, and other meetings as requested.
  2. Produce reports as needed or requested.
  3. Provides logistical assistance as needed or requested.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM EFFECTIVELY IN THE POSITION:

  1. Extensive knowledge and understanding of military culture.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to convey compassion as needed when interacting with Veterans and staff.
  3. Excellent presentation skills; must be comfortable speaking publicly and delivering presentations to audiences of varying sizes.
  4. Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  5. Must be a self-motivated individual able to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people and organizations.
  7. Organizational and prioritization skills; attention to detail.
  8. Time management skills and accurate record-keeping capabilities. 
  9. Must be able to handle multiple tasks accurately, efficiently, and independently.
  10. Writing skills sufficient to draft letters, memos, and other professional correspondence.
  11. Basic computer literacy and proficiency using Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and willingness to learn how to use new software programs as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree minimum, master’s degree preferred, in an applicable field.
  2. Four years of work experience in middle management or higher-level supervisory position.
  3. A minimum of 4 years of military experience with an honorable discharge from service.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid driver’s license and must have use of a reliable vehicle.
  2. Extensive travel throughout the entire United States, in varying weather conditions, for speaking engagements, conferences, and business meetings, and other events, which advance the Clear Path mission is required.
  3. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays as necessary to accommodate for special event attendance. 
  4. Must be comfortable with dogs in the workplace. 

JOB-RELATED PHYSICAL ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THE JOB IN A SATISFACTORY MANNER:

Must be able to sit at a desk and computer monitor for long periods of time. Speech and hearing sufficient for constant telephone and in-person communications. Manual dexterity sufficient for constant use of computer keyboard and other office equipment. Vision sufficient for frequent use of a computer monitor, creating and reading paperwork.
