FSLA Status: Salary Hourly Non-exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; hours will vary

JOB SUMMARY:

Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path), is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs, and services for veterans and their families. The Family Support Manager is responsible for assisting veteran and military families with integrating back into their community by connecting them with programs and services that will accomplish holistic care. This position also provides emotional support and referrals to appropriate agencies for veteran families who are going through a crisis or problematic situation.  The Family Support Manager functions as a positive role model for all veteran and military families by displaying a positive encouraging approach to problem-solving and offering appropriate solutions as needed.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Respond promptly and with compassion and understanding to inquiries from veteran families.
  2. Answer Veteran family/client questions, including researching information to provide complete and accurate responses when necessary.
  3. Ability to identify areas of need among a veteran’s family members and/or the Veteran and make appropriate referrals to other available Clear Path programs and services or external resources as needed.
  4. Meet with the Peer Support team to review open cases and provide support when appropriate and needed.
    1. Develop and disseminate reports as necessary including, but not limited to, outreach events, the activities CPV provides to the community, meetings with community partners, and detailed categories of Veterans and family members served.
  5. Evaluate Family support service effectiveness and efficiency through monitoring all caseloads to ensure Veteran family needs are holistically met.
  6. Search out and identify potential resources within assigned territories.
    1. This could include, but not be limited to community, state, federal, health, and social resources.
  7. Represent, or assist in representing Clear Path for Veterans at a variety of community events and other activities.
    1. Identify and form relationships with Veteran family members encountered at those events.
    2. Prepare and facilitate a variety of presentations about Clear Path’s family support service and Clear Path generally.
  8. Manage volunteer participants in the Social engagement program.
  9. Attend and actively participate in departmental and organizational meetings.
  10. Promote teamwork by communicating regularly and effectively with the leadership team.
  11. Manage submission of credit card receipts to the finance department.
  12. Design and manage family events at Clear Path for Veterans campus, virtually, and offsite when appropriate.
  13. Assist with social engagement and integrative medicine activities as needed.
  14. Complete other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
  2. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  3. Must be an immediate family member of a veteran or military member.
  4. Must have a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a Veteran-focused/related role. Verifiable volunteer experience will be considered.
  5. Strong understanding of military culture.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM EFFECTIVELY IN THE POSITION:

  1. The ability to demonstrate compassion while maintaining appropriate professional conduct and boundaries.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. The ability to network, form, and maintain positive relationships within the community.
  4. Leadership ability and the ability to motivate others.
  5. The ability to analyze issues and suggest resolutions.
  6. Strong organizational, and prioritization skills; attention to detail.
  7. Basic computer literacy and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and willingness to learn how new software programs as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid New York State driver’s license and must have use of a reliable vehicle.
  2. Year-round travel is required within New York State in varying weather conditions.
  3. Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  4. Must be comfortable with dogs in the workplace.

JOB-RELATED PHYSICAL ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THE JOB IN A SATISFACTORY MANNER:

Must be able to lift a maximum of thirty-five (35) pounds. May sit or stand for long periods of time. Manual dexterity is sufficient for the constant use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.  Vision sufficient for frequent use of computer monitor; to read and develop paperwork.
