Hourly Non-Exempt Position Description

 

Job Title: Molder-Plastics      

Reports To:  Plastics Supervisor        

Dept: Plastics

Date Written: 11-21-2017

7 am-3:30 pm M-Fri. $15.00 Dependant on Experience

 

Summary/Objective: Produces reaction injection molded parts and molded parts, maintains quality and safety standards; keeps records; maintains equipment and supplies, assists with/conducts changeovers as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Using hoist, hand tool, Canon and Hytech machines, and R.I.M. presses (engages control machine controls) to mold parts to customer specifications.
  • Uses scales, vacuum chamber and autoclave to product parts to customer specifications.
  • Uses hand and power tools to remove flash and gates or conduct changeovers.
  • Assists/conducts mold changes including clamping process as necessary.
  • Coordinates first piece approval with quality inspection and makes periodic visual checks to ensure quality and adjusts equipment as necessary.
  • Confers with engineering to document methods for all new jobs and recommends changes to existing ones.
  • Completes required reports and records including but not limited to production output.
  • Meets quality and quantity standards for the position.
  • Proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment, and practices good housekeeping.
  • Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Applies classroom and on the job post training information, knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality oriented manner (wherein the KSAs are part of the jobs tasks, duties and other tasks as requested).
  • Performs other tasks as directed including deburring parts and performing other operations during cycle.

 

Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications

 

  • High School diploma equivalent. 6 months or more of plastic injection molding machine operation preferred.
  • Ability to read job traveler, prints, diagram, and use basic measuring tools as needed. Strong attention to detail.
  • Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Coordination, Attention to Detail, Judgment

Physical Requirements

 

Ability to walk, remain on feet for extended time periods, reach, stoop. Kneel and lift up to and including 35 pounds as needed. Ability to grip hand tools and depress controls.
