Manufacturing Process Engineer

As we settle into our brand-new building, we are growing our team to add capacity and meet the increased volume of customer orders.

Position Summary:

The primary role of the Manufacturing Process Engineer is to evaluate manufacturing processes to increase efficiency. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes, as well as enhancing overall workflows within the company's manufacturing environment. This position will assist and contribute to the engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be successful by fine tuning manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting experiments, applying working knowledge of product design, conferring with equipment vendors, and soliciting observations from production operators
  • Improve manufacturing efficiencies by analyzing and planning workflow (routings), space requirements, and preparing and maintaining production area/floor layouts
  • Select, procure, and implement new production equipment, including new assembly cells and complete production lines, whether it be for purposes of replacement or technological/process enhancement
  • Lead, facilitate and execute lean continuous improvement efforts including developing value stream maps, time studies, facilitate kaizen events, implement 5S and visual factory
  • Develop and implement engineering builds and assist with material qualification to support new or changing component requirements
  • Participate in product realization and manufacturability review process with the capacity to lead
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including manufacturing drawings, work instructions, bills of materials, routings, and engineering project folders
  • Ensure that all engineering changes are accurate and thoroughly documented and communicated
  • Participate in manufacturing quality audits and work closely with colleagues in engineering, production, and quality departments to resolve corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Maintain a presence on the manufacturing floor and provide a communication link between the production and engineering departments
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of science in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering from an accredited university or college. Three years or more experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • One year of experience leading continuous improvement.
  • Lean six sigma green belt certification preferred.
