  Job Summary
 
Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path), is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center serving as a hub of information, programs, and services for veterans and their families. The Volunteer Manager is responsible for identifying volunteer opportunities within the organization, recruiting individuals to fill those positions; and managing Clear Path for Veterans’ volunteers.  Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, supporting program director needs, special event support, fundraising, facility upkeep and maintenance, outreach, and general office support. The incumbent must display the utmost personal warmth, courtesy, and professionalism.
 
Primary Functions
 
Volunteer Management:

Maintain constant and proactive communications with staff to assess their need for volunteer assistance.
Analyze and make recommendations on the number of volunteers and number of hours needed to fulfill volunteer requests.
Hold monthly individual meetings with Directors to collaborate and resolve the status of volunteers for their respective departments

 

Ensure current volunteer service descriptions are up to date.
Work with staff to develop new volunteer service descriptions as needed
Maintain a record of all descriptions.

 

Volunteer applications
Ensure that Clear Path’s volunteer application reflects the information areas needed to assess the volunteer applicant’s applicability for a volunteer interview.
Oversee the input of volunteer applications and volunteer account records created in Salesforce.
Contact the volunteer applicant in a timely manner to schedule a face-to-face interview.
Assess the results of the interview and determine if the volunteer’s application will be accepted.

 

Complete volunteer orientation to include:
A history and detailed understanding of the Clear Path for Veterans mission along with the programs and services that are provided.
Ensuring they fully understand the scope of their volunteer service, including providing them with an accurate volunteer service description.
Ensuring the Volunteer Orientation Checklist is fully completed before the volunteer is allowed to participate in their first assignment.
Conduct volunteer training, or delegate it to the appropriate staff member, being ultimately responsible for ensuring it is adequately completed and done in timely manner (no more than 30 days after initial contact).

 

Manage and schedule volunteers to adequately fulfill the needs of staff when they need volunteers.
Work in close collaboration with the Director of Operations in overseeing volunteer group tasks and opportunities.
Ensure volunteers have what they need to perform their service including name tags, t-shirts, supplies, etc.
Ensure there is a backup plan for volunteer cancellations and no-shows.
Provide support and direction for volunteers as needed and in conjunction with other Clear Path for Veterans staff.
Ensure adequate communication with volunteers in all matters pertaining to work requests and guest, event, or program updates.
Monitor activity and identify volunteers who may not be fulfilling their volunteer service description, are not supportive of the mission or have other service issues. Conduct counseling sessions designed to improve or eliminate issues.

 

Work in close collaboration with the Hospitality Manager ensuring that the volunteer experience is positive and engaging.
In collaboration with the Hospitality Manager, plan and execute volunteer appreciation events.
Develop and implement a system to show Clear Path’s gratitude for volunteers to include thank you notes, awards, letters, and other forms of tangible recognition.
Ensure on-going volunteer recognition by all staff members.
Evaluate volunteer recognition programs and assess their effectiveness.

 
Volunteer Program Development and Administration:
 

Work with the Regional Peer Support Managers to expand volunteer opportunities across Clear Path’s coverage area.
 

Work with the Director of Development in developing ways volunteers can give back.
 

Create and maintain effective relationships with community organizations including summit meeting participants, and civic, military, religious, and corporate groups. This includes attending outreach events and other offsite events or meetings to develop relationships.
 

Create and maintain relationships with other volunteer organizations for the purpose of networking, sharing ideas, and learning.
 

Recordkeeping:
Track volunteer hours and assignments
Prepare timely reports on volunteer use as needed or requested
Maintain a record of volunteer length of service
Maintain a record of why volunteers decrease the amount of service and/or no longer serve.

 

Participate in creating, monitoring, and managing the volunteer services budget.
 

Perform any other duties as assigned or necessary to complete job responsibilities. This   
could include filling in at the front desk, giving tours, attending community events, and/or anything else necessary to carry out Clear Path’s mission.
 
Education, Experience, and Other requirements
 

A Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to performing the duties of the job; or a sufficient combination of advanced education and work experience.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing or leading volunteers.
Familiarity with the Central New York community preferred.
Ability to travel locally using own transportation.
Must be comfortable with dogs in the workplace.

Job Summary
Clear Path for Veterans, Inc. (CPV or Clear Path) is Upstate New York’s Veteran Resource Center, serving as a hub of information, programs and services for Veterans and their families.  Clear Path for Veterans is located in Chittenango, NY.  The incumbent in this position provides routine care to canines assigned to the Puppy Development Program throughout the Clear Path for Veterans (CPV) New York (CPVNY) location. In this capacity, this position will be responsible for providing cursory exams, biological fulfillment, grooming, dental care, body composition assessments, and other activities focused on assigned canines' health and wellness. The Canine Care Technician will collect and input data into the canine management software. This position actively listens to staff while maintaining realistic expectations and promoting teamwork.
Primary Functions
 
Routine Canine Care

Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the Puppy Development Center.
Monitor and provide routine care to canines assigned to the Puppy Development Program.
Assist Puppy Development Coordinator in temperament/behavioral testing.
Provide ongoing feedback to the Puppy Development Coordinator and Trainers on the status of assigned canines.
Provide transportation to and from locations to benefit training, health, and overall development of assigned canines.
Will be expected to attend training and maintain knowledge of training standards in accordance with Assistance Dogs International (ADI).
Regularly meet with the Canine Program Team to discuss training and dog development
Document all training and behavioral notes

Clear Path for Veterans is located in Chittenango, NY.  The Welcome Coordinator is responsible for the first impression of Clear Path for Veterans to our valued veterans and their families, volunteers, and other visitors.  The incumbent must display the utmost personal warmth, courtesy, and professionalism.  They will perform a variety of office, administrative, and clerical functions to provide service to veterans, and visitors and support to management.
 
  Primary Functions
 
1.        Open and close the building at the beginning and end of each workday.
a.       In case of absence, communicate promptly with the Hospitality Manager to ensure responsibilities are delegated to another staff member.
b.       If issues are encountered during opening or closing, promptly notify the Hospitality Manager and Facilities Manager.
 
2.        At all times, provide world-class customer service to guests of Clear Path for Veterans, including but not limited to veterans, military members, families, donors, volunteers, and vendors.
a.       Promptly greet everyone who enters the main facility, making them feel welcome by greeting them in a warm, friendly, and professional manner showing the utmost concern for their comfort.
 
3.        Coordinate and oversee the front desk and reception area to include:
a.       Constant front desk and phone coverage.
b.       Ensure the front desk, merchandise displays, and other furniture within the common areas are kept tidy, organized, and free of clutter.
c.        Keep all literature and print materials in the entrance and lobby up to date and well stocked.
                                                   i.            Prompt Director of Public Relations and Marketing for materials as needed
d.       Keep the conference room clean and meeting ready.
                                                   i.            Work with the Executive Chef and Hospitality Manager to ensure the meeting room amenity center is always well stocked and refreshments are prepared for meetings as needed.
                                                  ii.            Manage the conference room reservation requests.
e.       Keep the coffee bar tidy and clean of any clutter or debris. Make coffee as needed.
 
4.        Respond to guest inquiries via phone, email, or in person, and direct them to the appropriate staff member or program area.
a.       Manage the general inquiry email account.
b.       Determine the nature and purpose of a visit, and direct or escort guests to specific destinations.
c.        Answer incoming calls within three rings and ensure that all callers respond promptly and courteously.
d.       Take accurate messages and ensure they are delivered to the appropriate staff member(s) promptly or offer callers voice mail when applicable.
e.       Use sound judgment to provide the Hospitality Manager with a daily report of phone and email inquiries that will require the Hospitality Manager’s follow-up.
 
5.        When requested, schedule and coordinate meetings as directed by the Hospitality Manager and other managers authorized by the Hospitality Manager to include but are not limited to.
a.       Arranging and reserving meeting rooms.
b.       Overseeing the scheduling of the Clear Path weekly van usage.
 
6.        Keep and monitor general office supply inventory and promptly order additional supplies when necessary, ensuring an adequate supply is always maintained.   
 
7.        Perform various data entry and casework functions using the Salesforce platform.
a.       In response to guest interaction via phone or email, input cases into Salesforce.
b.       Review cases within Salesforce for guest follow-up, ensuring that guests are contacted by Clear Path staff and management within 48 hours.
c.        Ensure proper sign-in of visitors and volunteers is executed.
 
8.        At the Hospitality Manager or Executive Management's request, perform various clerical functions, including making copies, assembling presentation materials, stuffing envelopes, or other related tasks.
 
9.        Continually protect the confidentiality of veterans, visitors, and other employees.
 
10.     Receive payment and record receipts for services and all Clear Path for Veterans’ merchandise.
a.       Keep an accurate inventory of all Clear Path merchandise and sales.
b.       Balance the cash drawer at the end of each workday, ensuring that accounting has accurate sales numbers.
 
11.     Receive, sort, and distribute courier deliveries.

Clear Path for Veterans is located in Chittenango, NY.  The Culinary Technician is responsible for aiding the Corporate Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Culinary Assistant to provide a 5-star experience to guests. Culinary operations are performed both on and off campus, which range from weekly canteen to food truck events in the community.  The Culinary Technician must work in a fast-paced environment which will offer challenges and on-the-job training opportunities.  The incumbent will be a member of the Culinary Team, and will contribute to a high functioning, efficient, and successful culinary operation. 
 
Primary Functions
 

Ensures guests and patrons are greeted with hospitality and unconditional service; treats all with dignity and respect.
Supports food truck initiatives in multiple capacities including taking orders, food prep work, and cleanup.
Supports Wednesday canteen luncheons and assists with coordination and execution of all catered events.

Clear Path for Veterans is located in Chittenango NY.  The Sous Chef is responsible for management of all daily kitchen operations such as menu planning, food truck, ordering food and maintaining appropriate food inventory levels.  This position works closely with the Corporate Executive Chef in the execution of menus and events.  The Sous Chef also coordinates the work of volunteers and other kitchen staff to perform a variety of culinary-related tasks; The Sous Chef trains and orients volunteers to kitchen operations as needed.

Responsible for seasonal operation of food truck to include but not limited to: (transporting, ordering, food prepping, cooking, and cleaning).
Assists with event planning and scheduling for food truck events.
Provide consistent, effective, hands-on leadership with kitchen staff at all times. In the absence of the Corporate Executive Chef, assume the kitchen leadership position on all matters needing immediate attention.
Fill in for the Corporate Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary.

Position Description
Performs a variety of duties to assist in facilities maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

Operates and monitors equipment for baling recyclable material according to prescribed procedures and keeps scrap areas clean and orderly.  
Regulates and assists with the loading, unloading and separation of recyclable material as instructed; schedules incoming loads of recyclable material; and orders, coordinates, and scales incoming and outgoing scrap trucks.  
Cleans and maintains equipment, such as; changing coils, greasing, unjamming, etc.  
Performs landscaping duties and landscape maintenance, including plowing, shoveling, removing snow and ice from main drives, parking areas, and all walkways.  Salts/sands as necessary.  Mounts and dismounts plows, tailgate spreader, and other attachments to and from trucks.  
Performs light mechanical duties.  
Turns in bills of lading.  
Operates and maintains industrial power truck to move scrap, clean shop areas, insures that scrap is placed in proper containers.  
Performs floor repair duties and general rough mechanical work.  Mixes, pours, and trolls cement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
