Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Driver for our Jamesville NY location. This position will involve driving only within the constraints of the Quarry, it does not involve any over the road driving.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose material such as sand, gravel, crushed rock and bituminous paving materials
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water.
  • Handle paperwork concerning load tickets.
  • Carry out detailed instructions, but also must be able to use good judgement in decision making and be able to work without direct supervision. 
  • Must be able to oil, grease and fuel truck.
  • Operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company. 
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Overtime as required.

  • Must comply with all DOT regulations
  • Good work ethic, professional and positive attitude
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Abiltiy to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or dialogue form.   Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Education

  • Minimum 1 year in DOT driving position and or training or equivalent of education and experience
  • Class B CDL with medical card

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to climb onto and up and down a vehicle several times a day
  • Must be able to sit in a vehicle and operate it for several hours without stopping
  • Must withstand vibration from truck, road, as well as noise from the truck engine, other equipment and other traffic
  • Must be able to use arms, hands and feet in repetitive motions
  • Must be able to perform manual duties, such as sweeping/shoveling debris and rocks out of the truck bed, handle tailgate chains, binders and binding chains.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
