Toolmaker

As we settle into our brand-new building, we are growing our team to add capacity and meet the increased volume of customer orders.

Position Summary

Listed work hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

This position exists to product prototype parts to prove new concepts and theories for new cryogenic products or component parts and tooling for this environment. This position will be responsible for the machining and finishing of intricate parts and must have the ability to machine parts from drawing or sketch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or verbal descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts
  • Sets up and operates manual machines and machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications to maintain precise tolerances in all parts produced.
  • Performs hand/bench work as needed to complete product
  • Creates necessary tooling to meet special manufacturing or R&D requirements
  • Modifies existing parts per instructions
  • Meets deadlines as required by customers and is flexible with assignments as needed by departments
  • Performs housekeeping duties including preventative maintenance and repair of manual production machines according to schedules and exceptional needs
  • Adheres to quality and safety standards as required by in regard to all equipment, supplies and products
  • Maintains appropriate records
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Five or more years experience in a job shop atmosphere or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience machining various metals and materials, such as copper and stainless steel if preferred
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, and operating, training and safety manuals, documents and forms.
  • Ability to use and understand standard measuring tools/devices.
