The QA/QC Technician is responsible for the testing of hot mix asphalt, concrete, and aggregates to ensure adherence to federal, state, and/or customer specifications.  This position works closely with asphalt and concrete plant personnel, Plant Supervisor, and governmental agencies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform sampling and various lab tests on hot mix asphalt; such as volumetric measurements and asphalt content
  • Perform testing on concrete for consistency, air content, and strength
  • Perform sampling and testing of stock aggregates; including gradation, gravity absorption, and crush counts
  • Complete governmental and customer reports on test results
  • Communicate results of testing to Asphalt Operator, Plant Supervisor, governmental agencies, and customers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • HS Diploma
  • Experience with Materials testing preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Quality Control/Assurance preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive standing and walking
  • Occasional climbing of stairs/ladders
  • Lifting up to 80 pounds
  • Working with and near moving mechanical parts
  • Interaction with heating devices, such as hot plates, propane burners, and electric ovens
